About Laurie Zoyiopoulos, CPM, LM
I am a Certified Professional Midwife, certified through the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) and have been a midwife since 1994. In 2019 I became a Licensed Midwife when Michigan finalized the process to do so.
I offer a free consultation visit to help in gathering more information about homebirth and my practice and encourage couples to ask questions so that they can make an informed decision about who to hire and where to give birth.
I like that it is uncommon for a woman to wait more than 5 or 10 minutes for her prenatal (sometimes no wait at all) and that I allow an hour for each prenatal to enable the mother/couple to have enough time to ask questions, as well as for us to get to know each other better. I do the usual assessments that are done at a prenatal visit and also offer books and dvds from my lending library.
I am certified in Neonatal Resuscitation and adult CPR and re-certify, as required, for each one.
Labwork, ultrasounds, urinalysis, GBS cultures, etc., are able to be ordered as needed or desired.
I offer water birth and I have birth pools to meet my client’s needs and I also bring a deby birth stool to each birth.
Please feel free to call or email me with any questions you may have!
“It may be that the majority of what a midwife does is affirmation, reassurance and empathy, mixed with a bit of guidance.”

Midwife means “with woman”, but wait, there’s more….
Most folks would say that I "deliver" babies (though I like to say "catch") and this is true, but it is a fraction of what I do....what this calling requires of me. The contrast between the jobs within my calling are surprising to me and … Read More >>
